Introduction

The Project on “Innovative Model of Vocational Education and Training in Schools” is being implemented in 10 schools from 2019-2020. The project has been designed to implement creative and innovative educational ideas through pre-vocational education programme from Classes 6 to 8 and development of employability and vocational skills through vocational education and training from Classes 9 to 12. The teachers are using a well-designed learning outcome based vocational curriculum which is being implemented within a broad framework of skill standards and guidelines. Instruction is student-directed and personalized, often using technology to accomplish the goal of ‘learning by doing’ and promoting innovations in teaching-learning.
The project, which is being implemented by National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is funded by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD), Government of India under the SamagraShiksha.

Project Objectives

Innovation involves doing something new or doing existing things in a new or different way.

To introduce pre-vocational education from classes VI to VIII for exposing students to the various career opportunities in the world of work ;

To offer demand driven Vocational Education and Training programme from classes IX to XII for gainful employment and lifelong learning opportunities ; and

To develop effective strategies for strengthening the implementation of various components of vocationalisation of education in schools.
