PREPARING OUR YOUTH FOR THE FUTURE OF WORK MARKS WORLD YOUTH SKILLS DAY CELEBRATION AT PSSCIVE, BHOPAL

The PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal constituent unit of NCERT, under MHRD, Govt. of India and a UNEVOC Network Centre in India organized the WORLD YOUTH SKILLS DAY (WYSD) on 15 July 2019. PSSCIVE is an apex organization in the field of vocational education and training in the country.

This year’s WYSD theme was “Learning to learn for Life and Work”. The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Dr. C. Thangaraj, Director, NITTTR, Bhopal. Prof. Rajesh Khambayat, Joint Director, PSSCIVE Bhopal welcomed all the dignitary and participant and informed that The United Nations, at its General Assembly in November 2014, declared 15 July as World Youth Skills Day. He mentioned the need of responsive skills development programmes to ensure development of transversal skills and competencies that enable the youth to respond to changing demands of the industry. All the UNEVOC Network centers join the global celebrations to raise awareness about the importance of youth skills development.

A special programme to celebrate WYSD was organised by PSSCIVE. Prof. Nilesh Khare, Director, Business School, Jagran Lake City University, Bhopal shared his ideas on “Preparing Youth for Learning to Learn for Life and Work” emphasizing to update and retrain our self for the changing world of work. Mr. Animesh Jain, Chairman, CII, Bhopal shared the vision of CII in preparing youth through skill development programmes. Mr. Abhisekh Pandit, Member, FICCI Skill Development Team, Bhopal, shared the role of FICCI in imparting skill development programme in the country. Chief Guest. Dr. C. Thangaraj, Director, NITTTR, Bhopal said there is a need to start Learning factory than Education Factory. There should be quality oriented training rather than degree oriented.

The Guests released PSSCIVE’s new Publications. Technical Session on Skill demonstration on Cyber Security, Pot Preparation, and Two Wheeler Maintenance were also held on this occasion. The WYSD programme was coordinated by Prof. Saurabh Prakash.
