Discussion Meeting on Potential Areas of Cooperation as Per MoU Between National Instructional Media Institute (NIMI) and PSSCIVE on 3 April, 2024 The first face to face Discussion meeting on Potential Areas of Cooperation as Per MoU Between National Instructional Media Institute (NIMI) and PSSCIVE was held on 3rd April, 2024 at PSSCIVE, Bhopal. Five officials from NIMI and PSSCIVE faculty members attended the meeting on 3rd April, 2024 to disuss on the Areas of Cooperation as Per MoU between National Instructional Media Institute (NIMI) and PSSCIVE. The Joint Director, PSSCIVE welcomed the officials from NIMI to PSSCIVE. He has presented the Role and Functions of the institute. He then presented the work done by PSSCIVE in the development of curricula, textbooks and digital resources in the various job roles and the activities conducted by the institute during 2023-24. The officials from NIMI presented the work done by them in vocational education for the varius job roles. They have presented the complete process of development of IMP (Instructional Material Package) which consists of Student textbook, Instructor Manual and Digital Resources. All the faculty members of PSSCIVE discussed on various aspects of development of teaching learning material with them. At the end of the meeting to start on the Potential Areas of Cooperation, the common consenses was made for the development of digital resources of the selected job roles, Translation of the selected textbooks, Development of MOCK Test for DVET students and Trainees, Development Instructor Guide, and Development of Assessment Framework. The meeting ends with the vote of thanks by the coordinator Dr. Deepak Shudhalwar, Professor (CSE), PSSCIVE, Bhopal.
Ambedkar Jayanti was celebrated on 14th April 2024, with enthusiasm at the PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal. The Joint Director, PSSCIVE Dr Deepak Paliwal delivered a keynote address highlighting Dr B.R. Ambedkar’s significant contribution and their relevance today. Emphasizing the integration of constitutional values into daily operations, the Joint Director urged attendees to embody these principles. Senior faculty members also spoke, reflecting on Dr Ambedkar’s legacy of social justice and equality. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, recognizing the contributions of all involved.
The Deputy Director of Vocational Education and Training from Regional Office at Nashik and Sambhajinagar of Maharashtra State visited PSSCIVE on 15th April, 2024 to discuss the matter of training of Vocational Teachers on 19 Job Roles selected by the state for implementation in the Bifocal Stream of Vocational Education at Senior Secondary level. The meeting with the Deputy Directors and PSSCIVE faculty was chaired by Dr. Deepak Paliwal, Joint Director, PSSCIVE, Bhopal. The matter was discussed with the respective coordinator of the job roles. After the discussion it was revealed that a training programme for 6 Job Roles will be conducted from 22 to 26 April at PSSCIVE, Bhopal and for other job roles the programmes will be planned in the month of June, 2024. The meeting was coordinated by the state coordinator Dr. V. K. Jain and Dr. Pravin Narayan Mahamuni, PSSCIVE, Bhopal.
On 3rd May 2024, the Pandit Sunderlal Sharma Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE) hosted a lecture titled "Sharing Experience on Skill Development," featuring Mrs Nidhi Goyal, Programme Vice President at Tata Indian Institute of Skills, as the keynote speaker. Joint Director Dr. Deepak Paliwal, faculty members, and officials from various departments attended, alongside representatives from esteemed institutions like Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Polytechnic College and Government Women's Polytechnic College. Mrs. Goyal shared insights from her career journey, emphasizing experiential learning and the role of vocational institutions in India's development by 2047. She advocated for integrating creativity, innovation, and industry partnerships in vocational education and training.
On 21st June 2024, the PSSCIVE Library organized a one-day workshop on "Publishing Academic Books" in collaboration with Springer Nature. Ms. Swati Meherishi, Editorial Director of Springer Nature, New Delhi delivered insights on research paper trends and the book publication process, including developing proposals, manuscript preparation, reviews, and open access resources. Around 87 faculty, staff, and the trainees of the Diploma in Vocational Education and Training (VET) programme engaged actively in the event, discussing textbook development and publication strategies. Dr. Deepak Paliwal, Joint Director, emphasized PSSCIVE's commitment to vocationalisation of school education, enhancing research efforts and advancing vocational knowledge and skills
The Pandit Sunderlal Sharma Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE) organized an orientation programme for newly appointed faculty members from 27th May to 13th June 2024.
The 31st Foundation Day of Pandit Sunderlal Sharma Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE) was celebrated on July 5, 2024. The Chief Guest at the event was Prof. Kailasa Rao M., Director of the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), Bhopal. Dr. Deepak Paliwal, Joint Director of PSSCIVE, Prof. Jaydeep Mandal, Principal of the Regional Institute of Education, Bhopal, and Programme Coordinator Prof. Vinay Swarup Mehrotra were also present on the dais during the inaugural function of the celebration. On the occasion, the PSSCIVE’s Programme Calendar for 2024-25 was also unveiled. Chief Guest Prof. Kailasa Rao M. emphasized the integration of the Indian Knowledge System into construction technology and stressed the need for specific skill training for youth. He praised NCERT's initiative to include vocational education in textbooks and expressed a desire to collaborate with PSSCIVE. Prof. Jaydeep Mandal commended PSSCIVE’s efforts to bridge general and vocational education in line with NEP 2020. Dr Deepak Paliwal highlighted that according to the National Education Policy 2020 by 2025, at least 50% of the learners in the school and higher education system shall have exposure to vocational education. The celebration saw active participation from various stakeholders, including Principals, Teachers, Students, and faculty members of PSSCIVE and Regional Institute of Education, Bhopal.
PSSCIVE recently concluded a fruitful summer camp on “Experiential Learning” for students in Grades 6 to 8 from 5th June to 14th June 2024. There were 18 students from 10 schools who engaged in hands-on activities like potting, depotting and repotting of plants, drone simulation, IoT-based micro-irrigation, preparation of jam and jelly, making paper and cloth bags and 3D printing. Facilitated by the Institute’s faculty, the camp emphasized practical skills and integrated vocational exposure aligned with NCF-SE 2023. Participants showcased their learnings in a final presentation, earning praise from parents for enhancing life skills and vocational exposure and insights. Dr. Deepak Paliwal, Joint Director, commended the camp's success, affirming PSSCIVE's commitment to holistic education and skill development.
A Working Group Meeting for the development of the curriculum and teaching materials for a Certificate Course in Electric Vehicle (EV) technologies was held from July 22nd to 24th, 2024, at PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal. The experts thoroughly reviewed various modules of the course, identifying key EV technologies based on their relevance and ability to provide learners with essential skills in this rapidly advancing field. The meeting also finalized the list of essential equipment for the EV lab, including high-tech diagnostic tools, battery management systems, charging stations, and other crucial devices. Additionally, the necessary tools for maintenance and repair tasks were confirmed, ensuring that students enrolled in the course will have access to all the resources required for hands-on learning and practical application.
Training of Teachers of Secondary Stage (Grades 11-12) Teaching in Retail sector: 1 to 5 July, 2024 A training programme for teachers of the secondary stage (Grades 11 & 12) specializing in the Retail sector was held from July 1 to 5, 2024, at the PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal. A total of 38 vocational trainers and teachers from eight states—Haryana, Punjab, Gujarat, Karnataka, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and West Bengal—participated in the programme. The participants were trained on various key topics, including the fundamentals of retailing, customer concern resolution, continuous service improvement, product selection, providing specialist customer support, sales presentation, selling skills, credit application processes, customer relationship management, stock display, visual merchandising, teamwork, organizational dynamics, loyalty schemes, customer information systems, and customer retention strategies. Additionally, they received assignments focused on conducting group discussions, role plays, writing case studies, maintaining student portfolios, and assessing student performance. The programme also included an industrial field visit to packaging industry and three shopping malls/retail outlets, providing participants with insight into the latest developments in the organized retail sector to help them implement retail vocational courses in their respective states.
A training programme for secondary stage teachers (Grades 11 & 12) specializing in domain-specific skills in the Travel, Tourism, and Hospitality sector was held from July 8 to 12, 2024, at the PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education, Bhopal. A total of 37 vocational trainers and teachers from eight states across India—Odisha, Telangana, West Bengal, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab, and Uttarakhand—participated in the programme. The training aimed to equip educators with the job role and industry-specific skills needed to prepare students for careers in these dynamic sectors. The programme included interactive sessions, practical demonstrations, and discussions on the latest industry trends. Key resource persons from organizations such as the Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation, Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Bhopal, The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa Qatar, Jagran Lake City University Bhopal, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) Bhopal Circle, Travel India Tourism Pvt. Ltd. Bhopal, and a Heritage Tour Guide from Bhopal provided valuable industry insights, enriching the overall learning experience.
Design, Development and Maintenance of Web Applications, Network Infrastructure and Social Media of PSSCIVE (PAC Code 21.14) – WGM – I The first workshop for Design, Development and Maintenance of Web Applications, Network Infrastructure, Social Media and Network Infrastructure of PSSCIVE (PAC Code 21.14) was organised at PSSCIVE, Bhopal from 1 to 12 July, 2024. One external expert attended the workshop along with the project staff. In this workshop, at first the expired SSL installed and also the digital certificate of VPN account expired after one year was installed. While doing the work of search engine opotimization and applying the Algoria search utility, it was noticed that this things can be applied on the latest version of software PHP and Laravel. The institute website is hosted on the Linux CentOS version 7.9. web server and the Cent OS 7.9 has reached the end of life on 30 June, 2024. It was also reported by NIC that the current Apache server is outdated and it should be upgraded. The upgraded versions of PHP, Laravel and Apache are not available for Cent OS web server as it has reached end of life. Hence in consultation with NDC Bhubaneswar where our virtual machine is located and in consultation with NICSI, HQ, Delhi, the new web server Ubuntu 22.04 was temporarily allocated. All the existing services, including the code and storage of the website was migrated to new Ubuntu server. In this process we have to make several phone calls to NDC Bhubaneswar and NICSI, HQ, Delhi. For this the expert has to stay for two more days and at last all the services including data and code migrated to new web server Ubuntu Linux. But the DNS mapping could not be done as to make the website public it is mandatory to conduct the security audit of the website, which has to be done by the user department. This work is pending at institute level. After completing the security audit the website can be made public in the new web server.
The World Youth skills Day was celebrated in Pandit Sunderlal Sharma Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE) on July 15, 2024. The event was attended by notable guests including Mr. Kapil Agrawal, CEO, Sagar Manufacturers Private Limited (SMPL), Bhopal, Dr. Deepak Paliwal, Joint Director of PSSCIVE, Prof. Jaydeep Mandal, Principal of the Regional Institute of Education, Bhopal, Prof. Vinay Swarup Mehrotra, Head, Centre for International Relationship and Prof. P. Veeraiah, Programme Coordinator. The theme of World Youth skills Day was “Youth Skills for Peace and Development”. The Chief Guest Mr. Kapil Agrawal in his address emphasized that in the present scenario skilled youth are the future of the nation and they are the contributors for the peace building and sustainable development in the country. The programme was attended by the faculty and staff of PSSCIVE, Regional Institute of Education and Teachers and Students from various secondary schools. The Secondary students from Demonstration Multipurpose School, RIE, Bhopal presented their views on vocational education in IT&ITeS Sector (03 students), Beauty and Wellness Sector (02 students), Agriculture Sector (04 students) and Retail sector (02 students). The students also presented a Role Play on ‘Customer Handling’ in Retail sector.
On the first day of "SHIKSHA SAPTAH," commemorating the 4th anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, PSSCIVE Bhopal hosted a dynamic session focused on Teaching-Learning Material (TLM) dissemination through vocational activities, engaging seventeen participants from across Madhya Pradesh. The session was divided into three core areas: Machine and Materials, Life Forms, and Human Services. Dr. Saurabh Prakash led the Machine and Materials section, showcasing the potential of futuristic technologies such as 3D printing and drone flying. He demonstrated the creation of 3D printed items like keychains and mobile stands, emphasizing the necessity of integrating 3D printing into mainstream and vocational education to enhance practical learning. The drone flying segment highlighted the importance of simulated practice before real-world application, illustrating the diverse utility of drones across various sectors. Additionally, Dr. Prakash presented miniature electric vehicles and other laboratory equipment, reinforcing the critical role of hands-on learning in understanding advanced technologies. In the Life Forms category, Dr. Pathak conducted an insightful session in the Agriculture lab, stressing the importance of incorporating agricultural education at the school level. Participants engaged in activities such as potting and depoting plants and learning grafting techniques, which are vital for horticulture. Dr. Pathak also demonstrated the use of various agricultural tools, advocating for their inclusion in school curricula to foster a deeper understanding of plant biology and agricultural practices among students. The Human Services segment offered practical training in baking and cooking activities, underlining the relevance of culinary skills within vocational education. Participants were shown various baking techniques, encouraging schools to adopt these activities to equip students with essential life skills. The day concluded with remarks from the program coordinator, who emphasized the importance of integrating these vocational activities into the school curriculum to align with the transformative goals of NEP 2020. In this programme 98 vocational teachers across the country participated in online mode and 25 people from DIET Madhya Pradesh in offline mode. These DIET faculty and few school principals are developing vocational modules for grade 6 to 8 on three forms of works based on their exposure visits to various local artisan and institutions. The coordinator highlighted how these practical sessions could significantly enhance students' knowledge and skills, preparing them for future challenges. Overall, the first day of SHIKSHA SAPTAH at PSSCIVE Bhopal successfully demonstrated the transformative potential of vocational education, setting a strong precedent for the upcoming sessions and reaffirming the commitment to advancing education nationwide.
The training programme for secondary stage teachers was held from 27 to 31 August 2024 at the PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal. The programme’s objectives were to equip vocational teachers with essential skills in Transportation, Logistics, and Warehousing. Emphasizing the importance of continuous learning, the programme addressed the skill needs of teachers to train the students in domain-specific skills aligned with industry standards, integrate technology, and ensure safety compliance. It also focuses on enhancing employability and preparing teachers to deliver high-quality, industry-relevant education to students, thereby improving vocational education in schools. The training included hands-on experience, group activities, and industry visits. Fourteen vocational teachers/trainers participated from the Goa state.
A training programme for secondary-stage vocational teachers of Grades 11 & 12, specializing in domain- specific skills within the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sector was held from July 29 to August 2, 2024, at the PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education, Bhopal. Training of Teachers of Secondary Stage (Grades 11-12) Teaching in Automotive Sector: 5 to 9 August 2024 A training programme for secondary-stage teachers (Grades 11 & 12) specializing in domain-specific skills in the automotive sector was held from August 5 to 9, 2024, at the PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE). Bhopal. The event was attended by 26 vocational trainers and teachers from five states—West Bengal, Haryana, Gujarat, Punjab, and Goa. The programme covered a wide range of topics, including experiential learning, conceptual clarity, vocational and intra-pedagogical approaches, remedial corrections, and culinary arts as areas for professional development. Sessions also focused on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), layout considerations, 3D printing technology, internal combustion engine fuel systems, solar installations (such as solar pumps), cost factors, and module and load calculations. Participants also visited the CI Hyundai Workshop and Service Centre to gain hands-on experience in engine maintenance and service procedures. A practical activity was conducted in the automobile lab, where participants disassembled and reassembled an engine.
An Awareness Programme for Key Functionaries of Vocational Education, in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE) 2023, was conducted from August 21st to 23rd, 2024, at the Department of Business and Commerce, PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal. A total of 31 participants attended, including 10 from Telangana and 7 from Andhra Pradesh. The training covered various topics such as re-imagining vocational education and training in schools under NEP 2020, an overview of vocational education in India, and the role of key functionaries in implementing vocational education based on NEP 2020 and NCFSE 2023. Participants also explored vocational education implementation for the middle (Grades 6 to 8) and secondary (Grades 9 to 12) stages under the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF), student support systems, assessment, and evaluation, along with the digitization of vocational education administration. The programme highlighted enhancing vocational education awareness through ICT tools such as augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) and discussed various forms of work and activities in vocational education. The role of PSSCIVE in the development of digital resources, textbooks, training, and extension programmes was also emphasized. Additionally, the training focused on skilling adults and out-of-school children through the Skill Hub Initiative, schemes for promoting skill development and introducing bagless, fun-based learning activities in line with NEP 2020. Participants were also allowed to present best practices from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, followed by a feedback session where issues and challenges in implementing vocational education in their respective states were discussed.
Awareness Programme for Key Functionaries of Vocational Education as per National Education Policy 2020 and National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2023 for Eastern Region: 21 to 24 August 2024 The PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal, organized an Awareness Programme for Key Functionaries of Vocational Education as per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE) 2023 for the Eastern Region, from August 21st to 24th, 2024. This 3-day programme was attended by 20 key functionaries from the Odisha State Education Project Authority (OSEPA) and Directorate of Higher Secondary Education (DHSE), Odisha, primarily consisting of principals and district vocational education coordinators. The inaugural session featured addresses from Dr. Deepak Paliwal, Joint Director of PSSCIVE, Prof. P. Veeriah, Head of Business and Commerce at PSSCIVE, and Dr. Ravichandran of PSSCIVE. They emphasized the importance of vocational teacher training and encouraged participants to fully engage with the learning opportunities presented. The dignitaries also acknowledged the expertise of the resource persons from PSSCIVE and encouraged participants to appreciate the knowledge and insights provided by such esteemed professionals. Certificates were distributed during the valedictory session, and Dr Paliwal held a detailed discussion with the Odisha participants regarding the current status of vocational education implementation in their state.
A three-day boot camp on Experiential Learning was held from August 12 to 14, 2024, at the Pandit Sunderlal Sharma Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal. The event was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Minister of Transport and School Education of Madhya Pradesh Shri Uday Pratap Singh, who emphasized the importance of hands-on learning by stating, He encouraged students to focus on skill development while fostering a sense of national pride. In the inaugural session, the Special Guest Mr. C.P. Sharma, Managing Director of Daulatram Industries Pvt. Ltd., Bhopal, inspired students to become job creators rather than job seekers, stressing the role of skills in contributing to India vision of a $5 trillion economy. Dr. Paliwal, Joint Director of PSSCIVE, highlighted the significance of vocational education and encouraged students to discover their talents and take proactive steps towards their goals. Throughout the bootcamp, students engaged in a variety of hands-on activities, including drone simulation, 3D printing, smart trip planning, waste-to-wonder projects, block printing, and sustainable agriculture. A total of 99 students from 11 schools participated in the event.
On August 29, 2024, the Pandit Sunderlal Sharma Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE) in Bhopal organized an Extension Lecture on "Vocational Education at the Middle Stage (Grades 6 to 8)." The event, attended by the Institute's faculty and staff, focused on promoting vocational education in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE) 2023. Dr. Vipin Kumar Jain, Programme Coordinator, introduced the speaker, Dr. Vinay Swarup Mehrotra, a recognized expert in vocational education with over 28 years of experience. Prof. Mehrotra’s lecture highlighted the integration of vocational education into the Middle stage curriculum (Grades 6-8). He outlined the significance of bridging the divide between academic and vocational education, while focusing on experiential learning through hands-on activities, field visits, and project work. Prof. Mehrotra stressed the role of vocational education in nurturing respect for intellectual and manual labour, aligning with the dignity of labor philosophy. He outlined practical projects like gardening, pottery, cooking, and local vocational internships during the 10-day "bagless" period, aimed at enhancing students' understanding of work and responsibility. Key points from Prof. Mehrotra’s lecture included the need for mindset changes regarding vocational education, systemic reforms, experiential learning, and increasing awareness. He also introduced NCERT's "Kaushal Bodh" activity book for Grade 6 and discussed PSSCIVE's contributions to promoting practical learning through the "10 Bagless Days" initiative and Career Cards.
The PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal organized a lecture on Art Integrated Pedagogy in Vocational Education for the Middle Stage as part of its Extension Lecture Series on September 17, 2024, at PSSCIVE, Bhopal. Dr. Jyotsna Tiwari, Professor and Head of the Development of Education in Arts and Aesthetics at NCERT, was the keynote speaker. The event was co-chaired by Prof. V.S. Mehrotra and Prof. R.K. Pathak, with Prof. V.K. Jain serving as the event coordinator. The lecture was attended by senior faculty, academic and non-academic staff, and other key personnel from the institute. In her presentation, Dr. Tiwari underscored the importance of equipping the younger generation with a broad set of skills to meet future demands. She highlighted the role of pre-vocational exposure as outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP-2020), emphasizing its value in connecting classroom learning with real-world, practical applications. Dr. Tiwari also advocated for an education system that integrates traditional values with 21st-century knowledge, ensuring students are well-prepared for the challenges of the modern world. She stressed the importance of vocational education at the middle stage, giving students exposure to industries that offer significant growth opportunities. Additionally, she called for counseling both parents and teachers to move away from stereotypical thinking, encouraging a more open approach that allows students to explore general, vocational, and art-integrated education. This holistic approach, she concluded, is crucial for shaping well-rounded individuals capable of thriving in a rapidly changing world.
The Awareness Programme for Key Functionaries of Vocational Education, based on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE) 2023, for the Western Region (PAC Code 21.23E), was held from September 2 to 4, 2024. Key functionaries, including officials from the State Department of Education of the western states were invited. 30 participants attended the programme—18 from Gujarat and 12 from Maharashtra. The programme was inaugurated by Dr Deepak Paliwal, Joint Director, PSSCIVE who outlined the objectives, followed by the programme coordinator explaining the schedule and topics to be covered. Participants were introduced to the implementation strategies of NEP 2020 and NCFSE 2023. Faculty members Dr. V. S. Mehrotra, Dr. V. K. Jain, Dr. Saurabh Prakash, Dr. Munesh Chandra, Dr. Pinki Khanna, Dr. Pravin Mahamuni, and Dr. Deepak Shudhalwar conducted technical sessions focused on these key topics. To assess the programme's effectiveness, pre-tests and post-tests were administered, and feedback from participants was collected. The participants expressed how the programme had benefited them. Dr. Deepak Shudhalwar, Professor and Head of the Department of Engineering and Technology, coordinated the programme.
Awareness Programme for Key Functionaries on Implementation of Vocational Education as per National Education Policy 2020 and National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2023 for Northern Region : 2 to 4 September 2024 The Awareness Programme for Key Functionaries on the Implementation of Vocational Education, aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE) 2023, for the Northern region, was held from September 2nd to 4th, 2024, at PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal. A total of 36 key functionaries participated from four northern states, with 13 from Uttar Pradesh, 5 from Uttarakhand, 10 from Delhi, and 8 from Haryana. The programme focused on the implementation of vocational education, covering topics such as re-imagining vocational education and training in schools under NEP 2020, an overview of vocational education in India, the role of key functionaries, and vocational education implementation for middle (Grades 6 to 8) and secondary (Grades 9 to 12) stages. Other key sessions included discussions on student support systems, assessment and evaluation, the digitization of vocational education administration, and leveraging ICT through AR/VR for awareness. Participants were also introduced to various forms of work (life forms, machines and materials and human services) in vocational education, the role and functions of PSSCIVE, skilling adults and out-of-school children through the Skill Hub Initiative, schemes for skill development, and the provision of bagless days and fun-based activities, as outlined in NEP 2020. During the programme, participants also had the opportunity to visit the Institute’s well-equipped vocational laboratories.
A training programme for vocational teachers specializing in job roles within the Food Processing sector was held from September 9 to 13, 2024, at PSSCIVE, Bhopal. The programme aimed to provide both theoretical knowledge and substantial practical exposure, equipping educators with the skills needed to effectively impart up-to-date industry knowledge in this dynamic field. The training attracted 20 participants from various states, including Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, and Kerala, fostering a vibrant learning environment that encouraged cross-learning. Through group discussions and hands- on practical exercises, participants actively engaged in the sessions. The programme equipped vocational teachers with specialized knowledge and teaching methodologies tailored for the Food Processing sector, resulting in enhanced instructional skills, updated industry insights, and the ability to create effective practical learning environments. This empowered educators to better prepare students for successful careers in food processing job roles.
The Department of Home Science and Hospitality Management , conducted a five-days working group meeting from 05 to 09 August 2024 at PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal. The meeting was organized with the objective of developing content for the Repository on Traditional Textiles of India, a project aimed at preserving and documenting the country's diverse and rich textile heritage. The meeting saw the participation of various experts, including subject matter specialists in textile and techniques, as well as technical experts skilled in digital documentation and repository management. The experts engaged in thorough discussions, focusing on several key areas: identifying and categorizing traditional textiles, formulating content that covers scope, techniques, and cultural significance and establishing strategies for the documentation and archiving of the textiles.
The PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education inaugurated Hindi Pakhwada on 17th September 2024, with Prof. Jyotsna Tiwari, Professor from the Department of Education in Arts & Aesthetics, NCERT, as the Chief Guest. Dr. R.K. Pathak, the Coordinator of Hindi Pakhwada, addressed the faculty and staff, outlining the various competitions scheduled to take place during the celebration of Hindi Pakhwada. He encouraged everyone to actively participate in these competitions, emphasizing the importance of collective involvement for promoting the use of the Hindi language.
The Ministry of Education, Government of India celebrated the 4th anniversary of the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 with Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam 2024 in New Delhi’s Manekshaw Centre Auditorium, New Delhi on 29 th July 2024. Hon’ble Minister of State for Education & Minister of State (IC) and Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Shri Jayant Chaudhary and Hon’ble Minister of State for Education and Development of North Eastern Region, Dr. Sukanta Majumdar were present at the event. Shri K. Sanjay Murthy, Secretary, Department of Higher Education; Shri Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy; academicians, Vice Chancellors of the universities, officials, and students, also attended the event. Besides the release of various teaching-learning resources, the Ministers also launched Career Guidance Guidelines, a massive library of over 500 career cards developed by the Government in collaboration with the UNICEF, New Delhi.
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 recommends that all students will participate in a 10-day bagless period during Grades 6-8 where they will intern with local experts such as carpenters, gardeners, potters, artists, and others. In pursuance of the above recommendation, the Government in consultation with concerned stakeholders has developed guidelines for 10 bagless days. The Ministry of Education, Government of India released the Guidelines document for the “Implementation of Activities during 10 Bagless Days” during the middle stage (Grades 6 to 8) for promoting experiential and fun-based learning in schools. The guidelines were released by Minister of State for Education, Shri Jayant Chaudhary in New Delhi on 29th July 2024 on the occasion of the 4th Anniversary of the NEP 2020.
A Working Group Meeting for the development of the curriculum and teaching materials for a Certificate Course in Digital Marketing was held from July 29th to August 2nd, 2024, at the PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education, Bhopal. External experts Dr. Vikram V. Shete, Prathamesh Sakhadeo, and Ameya Ambulkar, along with Dr. P. Veeraiah and Dr. Pravin Narayan Mahamuni, participated in the meeting. The objective was to create a comprehensive curriculum to equip students with key digital marketing skills. The team reviewed existing courses to identify best practices and gaps, finalizing content areas such as SEO, SEM, social media marketing, and analytics. They developed a modular course structure with clearly defined outcomes. The draft curriculum was reviewed for accuracy and relevance, and additional resource requirements were identified. After consolidating feedback, the curriculum was revised, and plans were made for supplementary study materials. The meeting successfully produced a well-structured curriculum.
The Department of Business and Commerce organized a working group meeting from September 2nd to 6th, 2024, at PSSCIVE, Bhopal, to develop course material for a Certificate Course in the Banking, Finance, and Insurance Services (BFSI) sector. The meeting was attended by five sector experts and coordinated by Dr. Sangamesh Hugar, Assistant Professor of the Department. Dr. Hugar introduced the experts to the guidelines for developing course material in line with NEP 2020. The experts drafted the course material for the certificate programme in the Banking, Finance, and Insurance Services sector.
The second workshop for Design, Development and Maintenance of Web Applications, Network Infrastructure, Social Media and Network Infrastructure of PSSCIVE (PAC Code 21.14) was organised at PSSCIVE, Bhopal from 2 to 7 September, 2024. One external expert attended the workshop along with the project staff. In this workshop, as per the requirement to display the draft study material in the separate vertical, the separate page was prepared for the same. Now it is possible to display the draft study material in the separate vertical. There is also requirement to display the job roles of different years in the separate page, the same was also prepared. Apart from this the errors in some of the web pages were removed. The front end and back end programming, validation and testing was done for his work in the website.
A Working Group Meeting was organised from August 28 to 30, 2024 at PSSCIVE, Bhopal to finalize the curriculum and provide guidance for the upcoming Certificate Course on Artificial Intelligence, with a focus on aligning the course with industry standards and maintaining academic rigour. The core topics outlined for the curriculum include an Introduction to AI and Machine Learning, Data Science Fundamentals, Neural Networks and Deep Learning, AI Ethics and Societal Impact, and Practical Applications of AI across various sectors. A modular approach was agreed upon, allowing for flexibility in learning. Each module will include theoretical concepts, hands-on projects, and assessments to measure understanding. The inclusion of case studies and real-world projects, with industry connections, was emphasized, along with the possibility of guest lectures from AI professionals to provide insights into current trends. The course, proposed to run over 150 hours, will be delivered through a hybrid model combining online and in-person sessions.
A five-day working group meeting for the development of the curriculum and textbooks for Bamboo Product Artisans was held from September 9th to 13th, 2024, at the PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal. The meeting brought together experts, industry representatives, and bamboo product artisans to collaborate on creating course materials. The artisans provided practical, hands-on training, which was documented to support the curriculum and textbook development. Additionally, digital resources for bamboo craftsmanship were developed during the meeting to further enhance the educational content.
The Workshop for reviewing the draft Handbook on Vocational Education, with reference to NEP 2020 and NCF-SE 2023, was held from September 3rd to 5th, 2024, at PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal. A diverse panel of external and internal experts participated in the review process, including Prof. Rajesh P. Khambayat (NITTTR), Dr. Asfa M. Yasin (former PSSCIVE professor), Dr. Jayashree Mahapatra (UNICEF consultant), and Mr. Sourabh Kulparia (KPMG specialist). They suggested that the handbook should be aligned with current standards, the inclusion of best practices, and provide a global outlook, connected to the educational content and industry requirements. The workshop featured presentations and discussions on various sections of the handbook, with experts offering valuable feedback on content accuracy, industry alignment, and practical application. Their insights were incorporated into a comprehensive action plan for revisions.

A Working Group Meeting (WGM) for the review and finalization of the textbook for the job role of Hydroponics Technician was held from September 9th to 11th, 2024, at the Department of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal. Four experts participated in the meeting, during which the Grade 11 Hydroponics Technician textbook was reviewed to ensure consistency and continuity in the development of the Grade 12 textbook. Detailed discussions focused on the identified units and activities in line with the curriculum. The unit-wise text material for the Grade 12 textbook was developed, and the draft will undergo further review and finalization in the next working group meeting.
A Working Group Meeting for the development of the curriculum and teaching materials for a Certificate Course in Electric Vehicle (EV) technologies was held from July 22nd to 24th, 2024, at PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal. The experts thoroughly reviewed various modules of the course, identifying key EV technologies based on their relevance and ability to provide learners with essential skills in this rapidly advancing field. The meeting also finalized the list of essential equipment for the EV lab, including high-tech diagnostic tools, battery management systems, charging stations, and other crucial devices. Additionally, the necessary tools for maintenance and repair tasks were confirmed, ensuring that students enrolled in the course will have access to all the resources required for hands-on learning and practical application.
A Working Group Meeting (WGM) for the review and finalization of the textbook for the job role of Plant Tissue Culture Technician was held from August 28th to 30 th , 2024, in the Department of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry at PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal. Two experts participated in the meeting. The experts reviewed the Grade 11 textbook for Plant Tissue Culture Technician to ensure consistency and continuity in the development of the Grade 12 textbook. Detailed discussions were conducted on the curriculum's units and activities, and the required text material for Grade 12 was developed accordingly. The drafted material will undergo further review and finalization in the next working group meeting.
The workshop for review and finalisation of the textbook on the job role on Telecom Technician IoT Device/System (TEL/Q6210) was organised from 16 to 20 September, 2024. In this workshop two experts Prof. Prakash Khanale, Parbhani and Prof. Rita Jain, Bhopal participated to review the draft contents developed in the previous workshops. They gone through the contents of the textbook and NOSes in the Qualification Pack. The experts suggested the modifications and alterations in the contents of textbooks of both the Grades XI & XII. They have also suggested to write some new contents and practical projects. In this workshop the contents were arranged unit wise. It was concluded that the contents would be rearranged and prepared within a month and then the final copy of the textbook should be checked with the experts.
Celebration of World Tourism Day on 27th September 2024 On September 27th, 2024, PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE) celebrated World Tourism Day with a series of events focused on the theme 'Tourism and Peace,' aligning with the United Nations World Tourism Organization's mission. The celebration highlighted the significance of tourism in fostering intercultural understanding, economic growth, and job creation. Chief Guest Mr. Aman Mishra, Chief General Manager of Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (MPSTDC), along with Dr. Deepak Paliwal, the Program Director, set the tone for the event, underscoring the institution's role in developing vocational skills for the tourism and hospitality sector. The event aimed to raise awareness of the sector's global impact, foster collaboration between education and industry, and enhance PSSCIVE's leadership in skill development. Several activities marked the celebration, including a poster-making competition with participants from schools and colleges like Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar Public School and Government CM Rise Mahatma Gandhi Higher Secondary School. The posters illustrated themes like sustainable tourism and cultural heritage. Additionally, a quiz competition for staff members tested knowledge of Madhya Pradesh's natural and cultural heritage, promoting local tourism. A webinar on ‘Skills for the Tourism and Hospitality Industry’ engaged over 70 school teachers nationwide, focusing on digital competence, customer service, and sustainability practices in tourism. The event also showcased PSSCIVE’s strategic role in skill development, emphasizing vocational education’s importance in meeting the tourism sector’s demands. Tourism literature and exhibition further provided participants with valuable insights into tourism opportunities and challenges.
The Working Group Meeting for Review of Data Collection Tools for the research projects on “A Study of the Implementation of Vocational Education under Samagra Shiksha in Secondary Schools in Western Region of India” held on 15th October, 2024 at Hall No. 8C, Department of Business and Commerce, PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education, Bhopal. The. Dr. Asfa Yasin, Dr. Nidhi Gupta are the external experts along with Dr. P. Veeraiah, Dr. Pravin Mahamuni, Dr. Prakash Chandra Rout, Dr. Sangamesh Hugar, Assistant Professor, Deepti Ashok Gound - JPF, Keerti Dwivedi - JPF, from Department of Business & Commerce, PSSCIVE, Bhopal The tools for data collection from state officials, heads of schools, vocational teachers, and students are largely accepted with minor modifications. The inclusion of industry input is critical to understanding the real-world applicability of vocational education and enhancing the employability of students. The meeting concluded with a formal session of acknowledgments and valedictory addresses.
A lecture was organised on 28th October 2024 at the PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal, as part of the observance of Vigilance Awareness Week. The event highlighted the importance of integrity and transparency in fostering national prosperity. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Deepak Paliwal, Joint Director, PSSCIVE, on the topic ‘सत्यनिष्ठा की संस्कृनि से राष्ट्र की समृद्धि’ (Prosperity of the Nation through a Culture of Integrity). His address emphasised the critical role of ethical conduct and vigilance in building a corruption-free society. Additionally, Shri Raju Borker, Section Officer, shared his valuable insights on the topic, further enriching the discussion with his perspectives on integrity and accountability in both professional and personal spheres. On this occasion, all faculty members and staff at PSSCIVE participated in a pledge-taking ceremony, reaffirming their commitment to combating corruption and upholding the principles of honesty and transparency. The event was a significant step towards inspiring participants to contribute to a more ethical and vigilant society, aligning with the overarching goals of Vigilance Awareness Week.
A teachers' training programme for the job role of Junior Software Developer in the IT-ITeS Sector (PAC Code 21.25G) was conducted at PSSCIVE, Bhopal from November 4 to 8, 2024. A total of 30 participants from the states of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana attended the programme. Two external resource persons, along with the programme coordinator, conducted various sessions on the job role of Junior Software Developer, following the training schedule. The programme covered topics such as Operating Systems, Computer Networks, Data Structures, Python Programming, and RDBMS (MySQL). Participants gained hands-on experience in Python programming and MySQL, which allowed them to acquire practical programming skills. They showed great interest in programming and actively engaged in solving their queries with the support of trainers. The participants expressed that the training was useful for teaching and implementing the course in the upcoming academic session. During the valedictory session, the programme coordinator presented a brief report summarizing the programme. A pre-test was conducted on the first day, and a post-test on the final day to assess the participants' performance and skill attainment. Feedback was collected via a Google Form. Training of Teachers for Implementation of Vocational Education at the Middle Stage (Grades 6 to 8) as per the National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2023 (PAC 21.16K) was conducted from 25 to 27 November 2024 at PSSCIVE, Bhopal. This programme invited teachers at the middle stage and vocational coordinators. It was inaugurated by the Joint Director. The programme coordinator explained the objectives and significance of vocational education at the middle stage and presented the schedule along with the planned topics. A total of 20 teachers and coordinators from Punjab and Chandigarh (UT) participated. The programme familiarised participants with the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE) 2023 at the middle stage. The technical sessions, conducted by faculty members Dr. V. K. Jain, Dr. Ravichandran, Dr. Pravin Mahamuni, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Pathak, Dr. Pooja Sharma, Mr. Surendra Badkur, Mr. Ankit Singh Chouhan, and Dr. Deepak Shudhalwar, covered various aspects of implementing NEP-2020 and NCFSE-2023. To evaluate the programme's impact, a pre-test and post-test were conducted. Feedback was collected from participants, who shared how they benefited from the sessions. On the final day, participants prepared action plans for implementation and for training other teachers in their respective states/UTs. The Vocational Teachers Training Programme for Vocational Job Role on Junior Software Developer in IT-ITeS Sector (PAC Code 21.25G) was conducted at PSSCIVE, NCERT, Bhopal from 4 to 8 November, 2024. Thirty (30) participants from the State of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana participated in this programme. Two external resource persons with coordinator have taken the different sessions of the job role on Junior Software Developer in IT-ITeS as per the training schedule. It covers the topics on Operating Systems, Computer Network, Data Structure, Python Programming, and RDBMS MySQL. The participants have performed the practical hands on of Python programming and MySQL to acquire the skills in programming. They took the lot of interest in doing actual programming which is supported by trainers for solving their queries. They learn the topics by interest find the training useful in the point of view of teaching and implementing this course to the students from next academic session. In the valedictory session, the programme coordinator presented the brief report of the programme. Pretest was conducted on first day and Post test was conducted in the last day of the programme to access the performance and attainment of skills of the participants The feedback of the participants were recorded through Google Form. The workshop for the review and finalisation of the textbook on the job role of AI Device Installation Operator was oganised from 14 to 19 October 2024 at PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal. During the workshop, two experts, Prof. Prakash Khanale from Parbhani and Prof. Rita Jain from Bhopal, contributed to reviewing the draft contents developed for the textbook. The experts thoroughly reviewed the contents of the textbook, aligning them with the National Occupational Standards (NOS) in the Qualification Pack. They suggested modifications and alterations to the Grade IX textbook, including recommendations for adding new content and practical projects. The workshop focused on organising the content unit-wise, ensuring a clear and structured approach. It was concluded that the contents would be rearranged and finalised before being reviewed by the experts in the next workshop. The third workshop for Design, Development and Maintenance of Web Applications, Network Infrastructure, Social Media and Network Infrastructure of PSSCIVE (PAC Code 21.14) was organised at PSSCIVE, Bhopal from 25 to 29 November, 2024. Full Stack Developer Mr. Vijay Goswami attended the workshop along with the institute project staff. The website was not working after receiving the mail from NIC that the CentOS 7.9 has achieved the End of Life on 1 June, 2024 and it was suggested to migrate the website to new Ubuntu or RedHat Linux server. According we contacted to NIC to provide the Ubuntu Server. In this workshop the expert has installed the Ubuntu Server and other software and prepared the local machine for working. Now the task is to convert about 500 files that are coded with Apache web server to NGNIX web server. The expert has started the work. But this work will require more time of about 10 days. A high-level delegation from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Republic of Korea (RoK), led by Mr. Woo Chan Chang, Director (India), and comprising Ms. Jooyeon Kim and Ms. Maria, visited the PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE) and the Regional Institute of Education (RIE) in Bhopal on December 11, 2024. The visit aimed to evaluate the existing infrastructure and facilities at these institutions in preparation for the establishment of equipment and the introduction of a Mechatronics course at the Demonstration Multipurpose School (DMS), Bhopal. During their visit to PSSCIVE, the KOICA delegation held a productive meeting with faculty members. Dr. Deepak Paliwal, Joint Director of PSSCIVE, provided a comprehensive overview of the institute's ongoing activities and assured the delegation of PSSCIVE's full support in implementing the Mechatronics course. The meeting highlighted the institute's commitment to fostering innovation and skill development in line with international standards. The delegation proceeded to RIE, where they met with Dr. Jaideep Mandal, Principal of RIE, to discuss the logistical and operational aspects of introducing the Mechatronics course. The collaborative dialogue emphasized the importance of aligning the course with the current educational framework and enhancing technical education at the school level. Prof. Vinay Swarup Mehrotra, Head of the Centre for International Relationship (CIR) at PSSCIVE coordinated the visit. This engagement between the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and KOICA signifies a significant step towards fostering international educational partnerships and enhancing vocational education in India. Activity Completion Report for Teacher Training on the SMO Job Role of the AMHF Sector A five-day Teacher Training program for the SMO job role in the AMHF sector was organized by the Department of Home Science and Hospitality Management, PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), from 9th to 13th December 2024, at PSSCIVE. Participants from Punjab, Haryana, New Delhi, Gujrat, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana attended the program. Various subject and technical experts were invited to share their knowledge and expertise during the training. These sessions provided participants with insights into specialized areas, enhancing their teaching and learning strategies. The training modules covered diverse topics, including patternmaking, drafting, merchandising, retailing, machine maintenance, and fashion illustration, among others. The program concluded with a valedictory session, during which all participants were awarded certificates of participation.
The second workshop for development of the textbook of Artificial Intelligence Assistant (QP: Ref. Id. QG-03-IT-00356-2023-V1-NIELIT) for Grade IX in IT-ITeS Sector under PAB was conducted at PSSCIVE, Bhopal from 16 to 20 December, 2024. In this workshop on the basis of curriculum the development of contents started with the guidance of one external expert. The draft contents for the first unit were developed in this workshop. The remaining part of the textbook will be taken up in the next workshop. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Deepak Shudhalwar, Professor and Head, Department of Engineering and Technology.
The fifth workshop for Design, Development and Maintenance of Web Applications, Network Infrastructure, Social Media and Network Infrastructure of PSSCIVE (PAC Code 21.14) was organised at PSSCIVE, Bhopal from 17 to 20 December, 2024. Full Stack Developer Mr. Vijay Goswami attended the workshop along with the institute project staff. He started with the uncompleted task of converting the programming files of the website that are coded with Apache web server to NGNIX web server. Till the end of the workshop he has completed all the pending files of the framework. Now the next task is to transfer the website into the new Ubuntu Server after completing the security audit. PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal conducted an enlightening Extension Lecture entitled "Multidisciplinary and Holistic Education in the NEP 2020" on 18/12/2024. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Suresh Raju K.A., Senior Manager, Value-Added Programs, Chanakya University, Bengaluru. The lecture was attended by faculty and staff of PSSCIVE, along with key officials of Awareness Programs of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. Additionally, students of the PGDVET program joined the lecture online through Google Meet. Dr. Vipin Kumar Jain, the Programme Coordinator, formally commenced the proceedings with a warm welcome to all attendees. He invited Dr. Deepak Paliwal, Joint Director of PSSCIVE, Bhopal, to present a token of welcome to the esteemed Chief Guest in the form of saplings. The lecture highlighted the significance of multidisciplinary and holistic education as outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This approach intends to provide students with a broad-based education that goes beyond the limitations of traditional subject divisions. NEP 2020 strives to nurture individuals who are not only academically competent but also exhibit strong social and emotional intelligence. This approach fosters critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and effective collaboration among students. The training programme was organised on the implementation of vocational education at the middle stage (grades 6 to 8) as per the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE) 2023 for the states of Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh from 14th to 16th October 2024 at PSSCIVE, Bhopal. A total of 33 middle-stage teachers participated from four northern states: 10 from Uttar Pradesh, 5 from Uttarakhand, 10 from Delhi, and 8 from Haryana. The training included sessions on various topics such as Vocational Education under Samagra Shiksha: Schemes, Present Practices, and the Role of Teachers; NEP 2020 and its implementation at the Middle Stage; NCFSE 2023: Implementation of Vocational Education at the Middle Stage; Assessment and Evaluation of Projects and Activities at the Middle Stage and HPC; Experiential Learning and Vocational Pedagogy; Fun-based Learning Activities, Bagless Days, and Hub and Spoke Model; Use of ICT for Effective Teaching-Learning Processes; Digital Content available on the PSSCIVE Website; Digital Literacy and Technology Integration at the Middle Stage; and an Overview of Cyber Security. Participants were also given exposure to the well-equipped vocational laboratories of the institute, where they engaged in various vocational activities as per the forms of work—Life Forms, Machines and Materials, and Human Services. Pre-test, post-test, and feedback from the participants were also collected.
A training programme for secondary stage teachers (Grades 11 & 12) in the Security Sector was held from 14th to 18th October 2024 at PSSCIVE, Bhopal. The programme aimed to equip vocational teachers with essential skills in Security, CCTV Surveillance, Cyber-Security, Disaster Management, Fire Safety, and First Aid. Emphasizing the importance of continuous learning, the programme addressed the need for teachers to align with industry standards, integrate technology, and ensure safety compliance. The training also focused on enhancing employability and preparing teachers to deliver high-quality, industry-relevant education to students, thus improving vocational education in schools. The programme included hands-on experience, group activities, and industry visits. A total of 17 vocational trainers participated, with 9 from Haryana and 8 from Himachal Pradesh. The programme consisted of various sessions on relevant topics, delivered by faculty members and supporting staff of PSSCIVE, Bhopal, as well as three external experts from the relevant fields. One of the sessions was led by a cybersecurity expert.
A five-day teacher training programme for secondary stage teachers of Grades 11 and 12 on Plumbing Technology was held from 14th to 18th October 2024 at the PSSCIVE, Bhopal. A total of 24 vocational trainers from diverse regions of India, including Punjab, Gujarat, Goa, West Bengal, and Nagaland, actively participated in the programme. The training aimed to introduce new technologies and enhance the practical skills of vocational trainers in the plumbing sector. The trainers were oriented to the objectives of the programme, focusing on the existing textbooks and resources for the Plumbing trade, which include Assistant Plumber General (Level-3), Plumber General (Level-4), and Advanced Plumbing Technician (Level-4). Trainers collectively reviewed these resources and discussed their effectiveness. They identified key practical activities that should be mandatory for students, and a comprehensive list of practical activities was prepared to enrich the curriculum and enhance student learning. The training programme effectively combined theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience. It covered essential topics such as the plumbing curriculum, self-improvement, advanced plumbing technologies, IoT, solar energy, and sensor-based systems. These experiences will empower trainers to incorporate the latest advancements and practical skills into their teaching, thereby fostering a modern and industry-relevant plumbing curriculum for students across India.
A one-day workshop was organised at Pandit Sundarlal Sharma Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal, on 18 October 2024 on the importance of career guidance and counselling in schools under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The workshop, held to discuss and develop career guidance tools, was attended by teachers, educators, and experts in the field from various states across the country. The event began with a welcome address by Dr. Deepak Paliwal, Joint Director of PSSCIVE, who highlighted the institution’s commitment to promoting vocational education through research, development, training, and outreach. He also emphasized the importance of vocational education in schools and shared how PSSCIVE-developed textbooks are being used in schools nationwide. The workshop aimed to gather feedback on the career guidance manual and web application being developed for schools. Senior Advisor from the Ministry of Education, Mr. Sameer Daniel, stated that the workshop focused on reviewing the career guidance manual and an AI-based application developed by the Wadhwani Foundation. He underscored that the feedback from the workshop would play a crucial role in enhancing the utility and user-friendliness of these resources. Prof. Vinay Swaroop Mehrotra, the programme coordinator, emphasized the significance of career guidance for students, noting that every student should have at least one skill. He further explained the necessity of providing students with the right direction and equipping teachers to offer proper career guidance. Prof. Mehrotra also shared information about the two career guidance manuals, which include 500 career cards developed by PSSCIVE and NCERT with support from UNICEF. He highlighted that NEP 2020 stresses the importance of career guidance tailored to the individual needs of each student. Representatives from the Wadhwani Foundation, Mr. Sunil Dahiya, Executive Vice President, Ms. Preeti Arora, and Mr. Anas, provided details about the AI-based career counselling web application being developed in collaboration with PSSCIVE and NCERT. They explained that the application would assist students in making informed career choices based on their skill sets, while also supporting parents and teachers in providing career guidance. The workshop was attended by 33 participants from different states, making it a significant step in advancing career guidance and counselling in schools. This initiative is expected to open new pathways for students’ bright futures and contribute to their overall development under NEP 2020.
The training programme for vocational teachers on the Solanaceous Crop Cultivator job role in the Agriculture Sector was organised from 4th to 8th November 2024 at PSSCIVE, Bhopal. A total of 28 vocational teachers participated, with 13 participants from Gujarat and 15 from Haryana. The programme covered a wide range of topics, including an overview of NEP-2020 and NCFSE-2023, an introduction to Horticulture, field preparation, and nursery management. It also included sessions on formulating general and specific objectives, teaching methodology, the role of vocational teachers, and various aspects of vegetable cultivation, such as protected cultivation, nutrient management, irrigation management, and seed production. Other important topics covered included health and safety at the workplace, integrated disease and insect-pest management, weed management, and harvest and post-harvest management for Solanaceous crops, as well as assessment and evaluation methods. The participants also engaged in practical activities, such as the preparation of nursery beds, seed sowing, and the use of IoT-based drip irrigation. Additionally, a field visit was arranged to the Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering and the Indian Institute of Soil Science, where participants were exposed to various agricultural tools and equipment, protected cultivation techniques, hydroponics systems, vermicompost preparation, and soil testing. Pre-tests, post-tests, and feedback were also collected from the participants to assess their learning and the effectiveness of the programme.
A working group meeting was held from 6th to 8th November 2024 at the PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE) to review the progress of the "Development of Green Park Involving Future Skills" project and plan future activities for the current academic year. The primary aim of the meeting was to identify and integrate new technologies, ensuring the project aligns with emerging trends in green skills and sustainable practices. The meeting was attended by distinguished experts, including Prof. K.K. Jain from NITTTR, Bhopal; Dr. P.C. Bargale, retired Principal from CIAE, Bhopal; Er. J.P. Lal, Ex-CMD, Lucknow; Mr. Ankit Sharma from Green Max, Bhopal; and Dr. K.C. Pandey from RKDF, Bhopal. During the discussions, the experts provided valuable insights and recommendations for future activities under the project, with a significant focus on identifying cutting-edge technologies that could be integrated into the Green Park initiative. The goal was to equip students with future-ready skills in sustainability and environmental conservation. Additionally, the development of a comprehensive training manual for the Green Skills Project was discussed. This manual is intended to serve as a key resource to impart practical knowledge and skills to students, empowering them to actively contribute to green initiatives and sustainable practices. The outcomes of the meeting are expected to guide the successful implementation of the project, ensuring it becomes a benchmark for integrating green skills with technological innovation in educational settings.
A working group meeting was held from 15th to 18th October 2024 at the PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal, with the primary objective of reviewing and suggesting corrections to the textbook titled Advanced Plumbing Technology (QP-QF-1023). The meeting brought together a group of esteemed experts from various leading institutions, including Dr. Gaurav Dwivedi, Assistant Professor at MANIT, Bhopal; Dr. Satyendra Thakur, Assistant Professor from Balod; Mr. Hemant Wadekar from PMS School, Mumbai; Dr. Ravi Kumar Mandava, Assistant Professor at MANIT, Bhopal; and Mr. Md. Ahmad Khan from Jaquar, Bhopal. During the meeting, the group meticulously reviewed the draft version of the textbook, focusing on its content, structure, and alignment with industry standards. The experts provided detailed suggestions on areas that needed improvement, such as enhancing the clarity of explanations, updating technical terminology, and including additional practical insights to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and real-world applications. Based on these valuable inputs, a series of recommendations were formulated to revise the textbook, ensuring it reflects the latest trends and practices in plumbing technology. These revisions were promptly incorporated into the updated version of the textbook, which aims to provide a more comprehensive and industry-relevant learning resource. The revised textbook will serve as a vital tool for students and professionals pursuing advanced plumbing technology, equipping them with not only the theoretical foundations but also the practical skills needed to excel in the plumbing sector. The textbook is designed to be a complete learning guide, facilitating better understanding and mastery of advanced plumbing practices, thereby helping learners succeed in this critical vocational field.
The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Goa, in collaboration with the Department of Curriculum Studies and Development (DCS&D), National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi, successfully conducted a two-day capacity-building workshop for curriculum developers on the 11th and 12th of November 2024 at the SCERT Goa premises. The workshop aimed to introduce and enhance the capacity of curriculum developers on the latest teaching-learning materials developed under the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023 by the NCERT. A key objective of the workshop was to ensure the inclusion of contextual and relevant content and activities to meet the diverse educational needs of students at different stages of school education in the region. Dr V.S. Mehrotra, Professor and Head of the Curriculum Development and Evaluation Centre (CDEC), PSSCIVE played a pivotal role in contributing to the workshop by providing expert insights on activities that could be included in the vocational education at the Middle stage. He apprised the participants about the activity book “Kaushal Bodh”, published by NCERT and emphasized the significance of aligning educational materials with the local skill needs and resources for enhancing the learning of students. Participants benefited from detailed sessions conducted by faculty members from NCERT, who guided them through curriculum revisions, material development processes, and contemporary pedagogical approaches. The sessions underscored the importance of using instructional materials that are adaptable to the local context while maintaining national standards.
A three-day master training programme on "Training of Teachers for Implementation of Vocational Education at the Middle Stage (Grades 6 to 8) as per NCFSE 2023 (PAC Code 21.16-E)" was organised by PSSCIVE, Bhopal, from November 18 to 20, 2024. The programme aimed to equip master teachers with the knowledge and skills to integrate vocational education into classrooms, in alignment with NEP 2020 and NCFSE 2023. A total of 20 participants, including 10 resource persons and teachers from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, attended the programme. The event was inaugurated by in-charge Joint Director Prof. R. K. Pathak and coordinated by Dr. Vipin Kumar Jain. Sessions were delivered by experts in vocational education, focusing on key topics such as three forms of work and implementation strategies. Participants were provided practical exposure through hands-on activities in the institute’s laboratories. Additional sessions covered innovative concepts like fun-based learning activities, 10 Bagless Days, and the Hub and Spoke Model. The programme emphasized practical learning, experiential activities, and the integration of technology to prepare students for future challenges. It also underscored the need for continuous professional development for teachers to stay updated with emerging trends and best practices in vocational education. The first workshop for the development of the curriculum on Artificial Intelligence Assistant for Grades 9 and 10 in the IT-ITeS sector under PAB was conducted at PSSCIVE, Bhopal, from 18 to 22 November 2024. This workshop brought together experts and educators to collaboratively develop a comprehensive curriculum tailored to the needs of the IT-ITeS sector. The curriculum was developed with the guidance of external expert Prof. Prakash Khanale, DSM College, Parbhani. The process began with a detailed review of the Qualification Pack (QP) and the Model Curriculum provided by NIELIT. Based on these documents, specific learning outcomes were developed to ensure that the curriculum met both academic and industry standards. Each learning outcome was then paired with a well-structured syllabus, covering both theory and practical components. These components were carefully divided into units, with appropriate time allocations for each. This structured, learning outcome-based approach to curriculum development aims to provide students with a robust understanding of the Artificial Intelligence Assistant job role and prepare them for real-world applications. The first phase of the workshop focused on the curriculum design, and the next workshop will focus on developing the textbook for Grade 9. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Deepak Shudhalwar, Professor and Head of the Department of Engineering and Technology, ensuring a smooth and effective development process. The Department of Home Science and Hospitality Management, PSSCIVE, Bhopal, organised a five-day Working Group Meeting for the Development of a Repository on Traditional Textiles of India from 18 to 22 November 2024 at PSSCIVE, Bhopal. The meeting aimed to document and preserve the rich heritage of traditional Indian textiles by developing a comprehensive repository for reference and learning. The event brought together a panel of esteemed experts, including Dr. Amita Walia, Professor, Delhi University; Ms. Kavita Bhatia, Retd. Vice Principal & DDO, New Delhi; Ms. Arti Lad, Sr. Lecturer, Women’s Polytechnic, Bhopal; Dr. Jaishree Dwivedi, Retd. Professor, MGKV, Varanasi; and Mr. Praveen Tiwari, IMS – Design, Noida, UP. Industry representatives and a Technical Weaving Expert were also invited to provide specialized inputs and contribute to the repository's development. The discussions focused on identifying traditional textile practices, techniques, and patterns from different regions of India, emphasizing their historical significance and modern relevance. The experts provided critical insights and recommendations for categorizing the textiles and incorporating digital and physical resources into the repository. A special focus was placed on documenting weaving techniques, dyeing methods, and fabric embellishments unique to various regions. During the meeting, digital resources such as photographs, videos, and case studies were documented to enhance the repository's richness and accessibility. The department expressed gratitude to all participants for their invaluable contributions and looks forward to continued collaboration in completing this significant project.
The working group meeting to finalise the curriculum and develop textbooks for the job role of Bancassurance Relationship Associate for Grades 11 and 12 was organised from 18 to 22 November 2024 at PSSCIVE, Bhopal. The meeting was attended by subject experts, including Dr. Rajeev Jain, Professor, SAGE University, Bhopal; Dr. Ajaya Mishra, Associate Professor, Chirayu University, Bhopal; Dr. I. Shivanagasreenu, Associate Professor, Kakatiya Government College, Karnataka; Ms. Madhulika Rawat, Former Bank Manager, New Delhi; and Ms. Anshita Sachan, Research Analyst, New Delhi. The meeting focused on collaboratively creating high-quality educational resources for the Bancassurance Relationship Associate job role. The curriculum developed by PSSCIVE, Bhopal, was thoroughly reviewed to ensure alignment with industry standards and educational goals. The experts worked on their assigned units, incorporating both theoretical content and practical activities as per the discussed framework. During the feedback session, clarifications were addressed, and suggestions were incorporated to ensure a shared understanding among the participants. Final changes were made to the textbook to meet the required standards, addressing issues such as plagiarism in draft units. This meticulous process aimed to deliver a comprehensive and industry-relevant resource for vocational education in this domain.
The PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha, Education Department, A&N Administration, organised a training programme titled "Training of Teachers for Implementation of Vocational Education at Middle Stage as per NCFSE 2023" from 18th to 20th November 2024 in Port Blair. The programme was attended by 40 educators from across the Union Territory, and aimed to equip teachers with the necessary skills to implement vocational education in line with the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE 2023) and the National Education Policy (NEP 2020). Key objectives included familiarizing teachers with NCFSE 2023 and NEP 2020 components, integrating technology into vocational education, and developing skills to deliver structured lesson plans and effectively assess vocational competencies. The training focused on three forms of work in Grade 6: work with life forms, work with machines and materials, and work in human services, delivered through activity-based formats. Participants engaged in hands-on exercises that emphasized skill development, problem-solving, and teamwork. The programme included workshops, demonstrations on ICT integration, and practical exercises on lesson planning and evaluation techniques. Expert trainers from PSSCIVE, including Dr. R. Ravichandran, Dr. Munesh Chandra, and Dr. Prakash Ch. Rout, led the sessions. The training was well-received, with participants gaining confidence to implement vocational education in their schools, enhancing the quality of education and preparing students for future careers.
The 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda was commemorated as Tribal Pride Day at Pandit Sunderlal Sharma Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal from 15 to 26 November 2024. A special lecture series held on 21 November 2024 featured P. Suryanarayan, Coordinator of the Vanvasi Kalyan Parishad, as the keynote speaker. Mr. Suryanarayan elaborated on the life and contributions of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, highlighting his struggle against British rule, which began at the young age of 20 and significantly challenged colonial authority. He shared that Birsa Munda was born on a Thursday in Ulihatu village of Khunti district, Jharkhand, and was named "Birsa" in accordance with the traditions of the Munda community. Through his sacrifice, Birsa Munda safeguarded the rights and dignity of the tribal community. On this occasion, a documentary film on Bhagwan Birsa Munda, produced by the Government of India, was screened. A quiz competition was organized for school students, who participated with great enthusiasm. Following this, the students were taken on a visit to the Tribal Museum, where they gained a closer understanding of tribal culture and heritage. Joint Director of the institute, Dr. Deepak Paliwal and Prof. Rajeev Kumar Pathak, also shared their thoughts on the occasion. The event was coordinated by Dr. Rakesh Raman and Dr. Anup Rathore, while stage management was handled by Raju Borkar and Sunita Koli, Section Officers. Students from Government CM Rise Mahatma Gandhi Senior Secondary School, BHEL, along with officials and staff of the institute, attended the programme. This celebration was a significant step toward introducing the ideals and contributions of Bhagwan Birsa Munda to the younger generation and honouring the rich culture of the tribal community.
The Ladakh Education Conclave 2024, held on 22nd and 23rd November 2024 brought together policymakers, educators, industry leaders, and students to envision a transformative future for the region’s education landscape. Organised by the Higher Education Department, School Education Department, and Ladakh Skill Development Mission, the conclave focused on aligning school education, vocational skilling, and higher education with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) B.D. Mishra (Retd.), inaugurated the conclave, underscoring the critical role of teachers in shaping future generations. In his keynote address, he encouraged educators to conduct remedial winter classes to improve learning outcomes and highlighted the importance of fostering leadership, innovation, and character in students. Ms. Padma Angmo, Secretary, Commissioner/ Secretary (Higher Education/Technical Education/Social Welfare), lauded the collaborative efforts behind the conclave. She emphasized the role of such initiatives in driving educational reform and sparking innovation within the region. The conclave featured a blend of interactive sessions, expert panels, and cultural performances. A traditional Jabroo dance by local students infused the event with cultural richness, celebrating Ladakh’s vibrant heritage.
The working group meeting for the Development of Teaching Materials for the Certificate Course in Digital Marketing was held from 25th to 29th November 2024 in the Department of Business and Commerce, PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal. The meeting brought together a team of experts including Dr. Vikram V. Shete, Mr. Prathamesh Sakhadeo, and Ms. Achala Acharya, who participated in person, and Mr. Ameya Ambulkar, who contributed online. The primary objective of the meeting was to develop comprehensive teaching materials tailored for the Certificate Course in Digital Marketing. The experts focused on creating detailed, learner-friendly content aligned with industry standards. They collaborated to finalize the structure of key modules, ensuring that the course is both practical and engaging. Infographics, images, and screenshots were integrated into the materials to enhance visual appeal and facilitate understanding. The team also reviewed and refined the content to ensure consistency and accuracy across the course modules. By the end of the meeting, the teaching materials were finalized and deemed ready for implementation. This initiative marks a significant step towards equipping learners with essential digital marketing skills, combining theoretical insights with practical applications to prepare them for real-world challenges in the digital economy.
The workshop on the 'Design, Development, and Maintenance of Web Applications, Network Infrastructure, Social Media, and Network Infrastructure was organized of PSSCIVE at PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education, Bhopal, from 25th to 28th November 2024. Full Stack Developer Mr. Vijay Goswami participated in the workshop alongside the institute's project staff. The workshop addressed issues with the institute's website, which had ceased functioning following a notification from NIC indicating that CentOS 7.9 had reached its End of Life on 1st June 2024. NIC suggested migrating the website to a new Ubuntu or Red Hat Linux server. Accordingly, NIC was contacted to provide an Ubuntu server. During the workshop, the expert installed the Ubuntu server and relevant software, setting up the local machine for operational readiness. The next task involves converting approximately 500 files coded for the Apache web server to the NGNIX web server. The expert initiated this process during the workshop but estimated that it would require an additional 10 days to complete. This work will be continued in the subsequent workshop. The PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education celebrated Constitution Day as Samvidhan Divas on 26th November 2024, to commemorate the adoption of the Indian Constitution. On 26th November 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution, which came into effect on 26th January 1950, laying the foundation for the nation’s democratic governance. Recognizing the importance of this historic day, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, on 19th November 2015, notified the decision of the Government of India to observe 26th November every year as Constitution Day. This initiative aims to promote constitutional values, raise awareness, and encourage citizens to honour the principles enshrined in the Constitution. On this occasion, all faculty members and staff of the Institute gathered to take a solemn pledge, affirming their commitment to building a strong, prosperous, and self-reliant India. The celebration served as a reminder of the enduring significance of the Constitution and the responsibility of every citizen to uphold its principles in shaping the nation’s future.
The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Goa, in collaboration with the Directorate of Education, Goa, successfully organized a two-day National Seminar on “New State Curriculum Frameworks (SCFs) as the Basis for Transforming School Education” on December 5th and 6th, 2024. The seminar served as a pivotal platform for policymakers, educators, and teachers to deliberate on the implementation and far-reaching implications of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The event was graced by the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Mr. Anandrao Patil, IAS, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Education, Government of India; Mr. Prasad Lolayekar, IAS, Secretary (Education), Government of Goa; Dr. Dinesh Prasad Saklani, Director, National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi; Dr Shashikala Wanjari, Vice Chancellor, National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA); Mr Shailesh Zingde, Director of Education, Goa; and Mrs. Meghana Shetgaonkar, Director, SCERT, Goa. Dr Dinesh Prasad Saklani highlighted NCERT's role in spearheading national curriculum reforms and elaborated on the development of the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023. His address underscored how the NEP-2020 envisions a holistic transformation of school education, with curricula and textbooks designed to meet the evolving educational needs of students across various stages. Mr. Anandrao Patil provided valuable insights into the government's initiatives aimed at promoting digital literacy and integrating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into the education sector. He also elaborated on the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) ID system, a groundbreaking initiative designed to facilitate targeted interventions, boost school enrollments, and efficiently manage academic records for students nationwide. Dr Deepak Paliwal, Joint Director of the PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal, presented the contributions of PSSCIVE in fostering vocational education across schools. His presentation emphasized the need for aligning vocational training with thedemands of Industry 4.0 and the future workforce. A highlight of the seminar was the panel discussion titled "Reimagining Skill Education in Goa," featuring Dr Vinay Swarup Mehrotra, Professor at the Curriculum Development and Evaluation Centre (CDEC), PSSCIVE and Mr. J. R. Rebello, Chairman of the State Curriculum Framework for School Education (SCF-SE) Committee. Dr V.S. Mehrotra shared innovative approaches and best practices for advancing vocational education, aligning curricula with industry needs, and addressing the skills gap in the labour market. His presentation emphasized the importance of equipping students with relevant skills for employment and entrepreneurship. The panel discussion explored the impact of the changing labour market on youth skills, addressing future skill needs, especially concerning Industry 4.0, and how the vocational education and training (VET) system should respond to emerging economic changes. The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), in collaboration with the Finnish National Agency for Education (EDUFI) and Global Innovation Network for Teaching and Learning (GINTL) India, convened the third Joint Working Committee (JWC) Meeting to mark the conclusion of the GINTL project and explore future avenues of partnership. The virtual meeting held on 18th December 2024 brought together key stakeholders from NCERT, Finnish educational institutions, and EDUFI to reflect on the collaboration’s journey, exchange insights, and discuss sustaining relationships post-GINTL. In his opening remarks, Prof. Dinesh Prasad Saklani, Director, NCERT expressed appreciation for the fruitful partnership, highlighting the shared efforts in enhancing early childhood education and vocational education. Prof. Anna-Maija Poikkeus, Dean at the University of Jyväskylä (JYU) and GINTL lead echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the value of cross-border cooperation in shaping innovative educational frameworks.
